Ronnie S. Stangler, M.D.
Ronnie S. Stangler, M.D., is a physician and board-certified psychiatrist, Clinical Professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Stangler is an international Family Office consultant who creates and implements programs of health, well-being and resilience for multidimensional financial, legal, philanthropic and educational organizations, and the individuals they support.
Ronnie has unique expertise in genetics and genomics, and the applications of these transformative and disruptive technologies on families and family office organizations.
Dr. Stangler co-created several multidisciplinary summits, ""Genes, Technology, and Incalculable Ethics: The Family Office of the Future", hosted by the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School. Additional curated events include: "Genomics: Disruptive Technology in Family Enterprise", presented at the annual meeting of the Family Firm Institute (FFI); "Advances in Genetic Engineering: Opportunities, Risks, and Impact on Chinese Families Globally", co-hosted with pgEd and the Family Enterprise Global Innovation Institute; and "Genomics Citizenship and Social Justice: A Call to Action", co-hosted with pgEd, Department of Genetics, Harvard Medical School.
Ronnie is devoted to the development of hyperagents of change, a new generation of philanthropists and social entrepreneurs who connect financial capacity with resilient emotional disposition and moral compass. These collaborative visionaries will create original solutions to problems of global poverty, health, climate and social justice.
Ronnie’s editorial opinions have been published in The New York Times, Seattle Times, and Seattle Post-Intelligencer. She has contributed to multiple media outlets including the New York Times, Washington Post, National Public Radio and the Wall Street Journal.
Ronnie serves on the Executive Board of the Aspen Brain Institute and chairperson of its Scientific Advisory Council. She is a founding member of AccessCircles. Dr. Stangler is a certified consultant in the 21/64 network of the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies. Senior member of the examining committee of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, she has been elected to the American College of Psychiatrists and was named a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. An annual award was created to honor her legacy: the Ronnie S. Stangler, M.D. Award for Creativity in Technology in Psychiatry.
